Dr. Brian Keith McGreggor is a Professor of the Practice at Georgia Institute of Technology, holding appointments in the Office of Executive VP for Research, the College of Computing, and the Scheller College of Business. With a Ph.D., M.S., and B.S. in Computer Science from Georgia Tech, Dr. McGreggor has dedicated his career to advancing the fields of artificial intelligence, cognitive science, and entrepreneurship. As a leading researcher in AI, Dr. McGreggor’s work focuses on reasoning by analogy from visual perception. His research, conducted at Georgia Tech’s Design & Intelligence Laboratory, explores the fundamental processes of creativity, including analogical reasoning, visual reasoning, and meta-reasoning. Dr. McGreggor’s innovative approach posits that our reasoning about the world is inherently informed by the nature and structure of the world itself, leading to groundbreaking insights in computational modeling of visual reasoning. In the classroom, Dr. McGreggor shapes the next generation of AI and cognitive science experts. He teaches graduate-level courses in cognitive science and knowledge-based AI, contributing to Georgia Tech’s renowned AI program. Additionally, Dr. McGreggor is a key faculty member in the Online Masters in Computer Science (OMSCS) program, bringing his expertise to a global audience of learners. Beyond academia, Dr. McGreggor is a seasoned entrepreneur with four decades of experience. As the Director of VentureLab at Georgia Tech, he leads one of the world’s top-ranked university incubators. Under his leadership since 2011, VentureLab has launched over 860 startups and helped more than 190 GT research-based technology companies attract over $3 billion in funding.
