Maryam Niknamfar is a Distinguished Engineer at Charter Communications, specializing in optical transport architecture and next‑generation access networks. She holds a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering/Telecommunications and has over 18 years of experience across research, industry, and academia.
Maryam has designed and scaled national backbone, regional, and metro DWDM transport networks and led C+L spectrum expansion initiatives that doubled usable fiber capacity. She has defined coherent transport evolution for 400G ZR+, 800G, and next‑generation 1.6T platforms. Maryam leads Charter’s next‑generation PON strategy and associated PoCs, has published more than fifteen papers, including journal articles, and has presented at conferences such as OFC.
