Lori Holy Maarbjerg (pronounced “More-Beer”) currently is a Deputy Bureau Chief in the Media Bureau at the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) where she oversees the Media Bureau’s work to develop policies and rules that govern the broadcast television and radio industries, as well as the cable and satellite television industries. Ms. Maarbjerg joined the FCC in May 2002 as an Attorney Advisor in the Office of Legislative Affairs (OLA), serving as the primary liaison with Capitol Hill offices with regard to Media Bureau issues, as well as issues under the Consumer and Governmental Affairs Bureau and the International Bureau. During her tenure in OLA, she was promoted to Senior Attorney- Advisor and also served as OLA’s Chief of Staff. From April 2015 to the end of 2017, Ms. Maarbjerg served as an FCC detailee to the Democratic staff of the House Energy and Commerce Committee’s Subcommittee on Communications and Technology. She left OLA in January 2023 to begin her current position in the Media Bureau. Ms. Maarbjerg came to the FCC from the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) where she served as Legislative Counsel to the NAB Government Relations Department from September 2000 to May 2002. She first joined NAB in March 1997, as an attorney in the NAB Legal Department after serving as an NAB legal intern her last semester of law school. Ms. Maarbjerg was promoted to Assistant General Counsel in 1998. While in the NAB Legal Department, she was the primary attorney for the low power FM issue and spent time traveling to various State Broadcast Association meetings to provide educational seminars on FCC rules.
