Shlomo Ovadia is a Principal Engineer III at the CPE & Cloud Software department at Charter Communications. In his role, Shlomo is responsible for the unified modem architecture and development, and the next-generation of DOCSIS features.
Shlomo has earned his B.Sc. in Physics from Tel-Aviv University, and his M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Optical Sciences from the Optical Sciences Center, University of Arizona, respectively. He held a variety of technical roles in the industry. At Intel Shlomo was leading various R&D efforts such as the design, and development of optical burst switching based on based on Silicon Photonics components, WiMAX certification effort and Wi-Fi Direct-Link-Setup. At DIRECTV Shlomo led the development of band E MoCA 1.1 and MoCA 2.0 specifications and certification test plan. At CableLabs, Shlomo led the development of future home networking architectures’ guidelines.
Shlomo is the author of a published book titled Broadband Cable TV Access Networks: From Technologies to Applications (Prentice Hall, 3/2001). He is a Senior Member of IEEE/COMSOC and was the vice-chair of IEEE 802.11ma working group, and with more than seventy technical publications and conference presentations, including tutorials and invited lectures around the world. He is the inventor of sixty-seven patents, where fifty-seven patents were issued, and the rest are pending.
