Dr. Robert Thompson is a resourceful and highly knowledgeable engineering executive with comprehensive expertise in systems engineering, staff coaching/mentoring, standardization oversight, technology implementation, and program and project management. Rob has recently completed his Ph.D. in electrical engineering at Binghamton University focused on neural-network approaches for mitigating nonlinear distortion of power amplifiers. Rob is currently employed by Sercomm, where he serves as a system architect for a variety of access network technologies, including DOCSIS 4.0 cable modem, meter, and outdoor amplifier products. Rob’s previous experience includes a Director role in TPX CONNECT Engineering at Comcast, a Principal Engineering role at ARRIS, where he was also responsible for supporting DOCSIS-based product development and deployment. Rob has assisted HFC network characterizations that have helped many cable system operators assess deployment of more advanced DOCSIS signaling and features. Rob has been a contributing engineer for CableLabs throughout his career, recently taking on the role of working group Vice-Chair for the 1.2 GHz DOCSIS 4.0 FDX Actives. Rob has authored multiple industry publications and awarded patents.
