Dr. Robert Thompson completed his Ph.D. in electrical engineering at Binghamton University focused on neural-network approaches for mitigating nonlinear distortion of power amplifiers. Rob is currently employed by Sercomm, where he serves as a system architect for a variety of access network technologies, including DOCSIS 4.0 cable modem, meter, and outdoor amplifier products. Rob’s previous experience includes a director role in TPX CONNECT Engineering at Comcast, a Principal Engineering role at ARRIS, where he was responsible for supporting DOCSIS-based product development and deployment. Rob has been a contributing engineer for CableLabs throughout his career, recently taking on the role of SCTE working group Vice-Chair for the 1.2 GHz DOCSIS 4.0 FDX Actives. Rob has authored multiple industry publications and awarded patents.
