Robert “Bob” Gaydos is a Comcast Fellow and leads the Connect Group’s Architecture team. In this capacity, Bob is responsible for providing a cohesive strategic technical roadmap, including all tools, systems, and technologies for the core and access networks at Comcast. Bob has a vast experience building and operating large scale systems and platforms and is a pioneer in network virtualization and software defined networking. His career in Comcast, started in 2005 as Director of Video On Demand for the Product Engineering group. There he grew the content library by 1000 fold. Bob was a major contributor to the Cloud DVR and all IP architecture. In 2017 Bob joined the Next Generation Access Network (NGAN) team as a fellow and led the effort to virtualize the CMTS and PON. He Brought AI/ML and Software Defined Networking (SDN) into the access network. Now he is applying those same techniques to the Core IP Network. Prior to Comcast Bob spent time working at other companies in the Cable and Industrial Process Control space. He also holds several U.S. patents, and Emmy, and a B.S. degree in computer science from Lehigh University.
