Dr. Alberto Campos

Dr. Alberto Campos joined CableLabs® in 2002 and holds the title of Fellow. He has been responsible for the DRFI, DOCSIS 3.0 and 3.1 PHY specifications, and he has conducted seminal work in the areas of Proactive Network Maintenance (PNM), DOCSIS 3.1 and coherent optics. Dr. Campos has worked on broadband access networks, covering cable, DSL, wireless and optical transport technologies for 30+ years. A pioneer in his field and the first to earn the title of Fellow at CableLabs, He is recognized for his commitment to inventing the future. He has written numerous publications and is regarded as a “Founding Father of PNM.” He holds over 240 patents granted in the areas of HFC, wireless and optical networks. He was named CableLabs’ “Inventor of the Year” in 2013 and 2016 and received CableLabs’ 2022 Inventor Hall of Fame Award. In 2019 he published the book “Coherent Optics for Access Networks” through the CRC press, year in which he also received CableFax’s “Engineer of the Year” Award.

Dr. Campos holds a Bachelor of Science, a Master of Science and a Ph D. in Electrical Engineering from Northeastern University in Massachusetts.
