John Bevilacqua is a Principal Architect at CableLabs focused on access network technologies including fiber-to-the-premises. John is currently working on several projects aimed at removing the pain points that CableLabs member operators experience while deploying ITU-T PON-based technologies. John is a 29-year cable industry veteran who began his career testing proprietary cable modem systems in the pre-DOCSIS days. Since then, John has been involved in the spec development, testing, and deployment of every version of DOCSIS. Prior to work at CableLabs, John spent much of his career working for or consulting to various cable operators with a focus on access network architecture, OSS architecture, and broadband CPE development. John earned his BS in Aerospace Engineering Sciences and his MS in Telecommunications from the University of Colorado, Boulder. John is a member of the SCTE, IEEE, and the Broadband Forum. He holds numerous patents in the areas of access network technology, traffic engineering, and device provisioning & management.
